afaik, his name is "Andrew" Tannenbaum, isn't it ?
At least, that's what's written on the book i own from him ...

You don't know Andrew Tanenbaum? Shame on you
AST (Andrew S. Tanenbaum) is a expierenced OS developer (author of MINIX and Amoeba) and *the* OS guru. He has written several books, the most important one being "Operating Systems: Design and Implementation" (kind of bible, see Book Recommendations).
Well, I think google will tell you more.
