how do i program cd rom drive

hi, every body
i am writing my own os , i want to load my kernell and all other files from cd rom before jumping to protected mode
i must access atapi, scsi drive to load the files so i need write drivers for my os, how can i do, what are the steps or where can i get a help

if i remember well, when Linux is booting from a CD, it first make the CD appear as a virtual 2.88Mb floppy ... but it's virtually all i know about it

but how can windows or linux access to cd rom drive or engraver
i just want to write drivers for my os

better check the Operating System Resource Center (http://www.nondot.org/sabre/os/articles): we're going beyond my humble knowledge ...
