Better newsgroup threading

I've rewritten parts of my news scripts to handle a design
oversight in Pine.
The problem is caused by Pine dropping the oldest ref when
the ref header is over 512 bytes. I've pointed this out on
the Pine newsgroup and it should be fixed in 4.33.
