what is the best linux distro? I have ubuntu right now and am downloading SuSE.

There is no best distro, you use what fits your needs best.

Personally, I've been using SuSE for some time and have had no problems with it. I've also used several other distros over the past decade or so... I haven't yet encountered one that I really didn't like.

whats the difference between netbsd and freebsd? And I just got netBSD so who do i add a new user from root and make that users password?

I would assume you could use 'useradd' and then passwd username.

I've only vaguely used freebsd so I can't really comment on your first question. I would assume netbsd is designed to be run on server equipment or network-centric environments.

i looked everything up. NetBSD can be run with telnet but it works the same without it. NetBSD is designed to be portable. As you i do not know much about FreeBSD. I figured out how to add users.

root
#useradd
#passwd username
new password:*****
retype new password:*****

wa la!
