I used independent trucks because my friend gave me them and I like them. The trucks you buy depend on your riding style and what type of tricks you are going to do. For hardware any name brand will do, I used shortys.

For wheels I just used generic wheels because they were cheap and because you will have to replace them anyways. I used splitfire bearings with some wu-d 40 on them. Black magic is a pretty good grip tape brand.

Zero is a pretty good brand for skateboards. The type of deck you should buy will again depend on your riding style and the tricks you do. Also it will depend on how big you are and how heavy you are.

The smaller and lighter you are, the smaller and lighter board you should use. If you want to do tricks, get a board with a lot of pop on the back end as you will be doing the most tricks on the back end. Also make sure the front has at least some pop in it. If you plan to nollie, you will need some pop in the front.

Hope this helps!

Well I am not too sure about how easily they break(as I havn't tried it ;)) but I have had my current board for about a year(it has been though alot of grinding and tricks... wouldn't be surprised if it breaks soon).

Anway, grinding is very fun so be sure to buy some wax... be carefull though wouldn't want to land with a grindrail between your legs or anything. :o

I actually made my first grindrail... stoleborrowed a fence pole from the park and built it up on some wood platforms I have...

Of course there is nothing like a ollie competition to see who can ollie over something bigger than your friend did.

Yes that is fun. My friend was able to ollie four boards. When you wax curbs, be careful especially if your skating at building complexs. I used to get kicked out of them all the time. I had the cops called on me one time.
One of my friends was sponsored by vans because he was able to do a boardslide down a 12 stair.

lol. these are some funny stories. cant wait til i can tell some. actually, i do have one. yesterday, i was skating at a school with my friends. they were hanging onto a rail and trying to kickflip like that. well, there was a meeting going on in a building near where we were skating. a woman came up to us and said the principal will be coming by soon and i guarrentee she will ask you to move along. one of my friends was being a chicken and goes yah okay sure. i had a different plan. we walked around the school and went to the front. there was a small bench I was trying to noseslide and stuff. (couldnt though) then we tried to ollie over a tipped over cone. we didnt land it. it was fun though, and we didnt get caught.

now, on topic, i dont like independent. i heard they break easily as well as destructo. i think im gonna go with monsters. wanna start a topic to tell skating stories? im gonna.

Wheels are very important. My first skateboard had really small hard rubber wheels. Not only do they absolutely suck for powersliding (half the fun of skateboarding), but they actually made my legs hurt when I went on asphalt. I highly reccomend bigger, more rubbery wheels for skating. Some people complain that they add too much weight and don't let you ollie as high, but I've been able to ollie higher and land better since I've gotten gooeyer wheels. I suppose it's all preference, though
