URGENT..... NEED HELP ON OS DEVELOPMENT

hi everyone,
this is my first post. i want to develop an OS as part of my academic curriculum. i have collected some material from the net but all of it seems confusing.

i've a decent knowhow of C and a little bit of assembly. i've also had a paper on OS. the problem is that i dont have an idea as to where to start from. since time is also a factor( this has to be completed around April 06), i'm not too sure of what all features i need to encorporate into the project.

i would like someone to guide me through this or atleast refer me to someone who could be of some help. hope to hear from you soon....

ok, for newbies at OS dev I suggest you look into http://osdever.net it has many tutorials for beginners
