I just got DJGPP, and i don't know how to use it, if anybody knows where to get some tutorials on how to compile a script etc. I don't know which file to open. there are so many in the bin folder.
And also i got allegro. I know it is a game library, but what kind of functions has it got??
NOW: For an off topic question, what is the BeOS web-site?? & Also, what does it mean if you are a five-star member on this forum??
The 5 stars just means that we have posted alot of messages. The more you post the more stars you get. 5 is the most stars you can get. And people with green stars are moderators and have power to see your ip, lock topics, move topics, delete topics, delete posts, and edit posts.
Berserk wrote:And did BeOS start off as a freeware OS aswell??
No. It was originally the OS for a specialized computer called the BeBox, which used a pair of PowerPCs and special-purpose viedo hardware. When Be, In. had trouble selling them, the dropped their hardware line and ported BeOS to run on the Macintosh clones, only to see Apple stop licensing the Mac ROMs a short time later. They then ported it again, to the Intel platform, but had endless trouble with driver compatibility and lack of market interest. In November 2001, Palm bought out Be and declared that they had no plans to continue development of the OS.
The OpenBeOS project didn't get started until after the buyout. OpenBeOS is not supported by Palm - according to the OpenBeOS FAQ, the developers are currently voting on a new name for the OS to avoid legal hassles - and is starting over with a fresh code base to avoid copyright problems. They haven't gotten very far yet, but they are certainly moving ahead.
last i checked, the print server was in late beta and the file system module was in early beta. they're basing it on the NewOS kernel so they don't have to write their own. from there, they're shooting for 100% binary- and source-compatibility.
