I'm new to the whole os dev scene so for my first project I though to do an os in real mode as I have the BIOS interrupts to help me. My idea for my first project would be a simple BASIC interpreter as an os so I ask: Is the a 16 bit compiler for C?

You only have to follow my link to see that it is free. It's quite a good compiler for 16-bit OS development. Many years ago I used it to type in the entire source code of the first version of Minix and get it running on an IBM PC.
