Hello,

I'd like to do OSD but it all seems a little complicated in the beginning. Setting up PMode, Interrupts, Keyboard events, I don't understand much of how to do it. Can't find any clear tutorial. But I like the idea of building an os, especially the GUI and some little apps... But HOW and WHERE to start. Can somebody please please help me?????

hi friend,

OSDEV is a little complicated (yea we admit that). However don't loose heart. Do the following and u will succeed in this quest.

1. Use a Website downloader like Rafabot and save this msg board's(I mean osdev.org/board.jsp) contents to ur hard disk and then browse thru all the newbie questions.

2. Read the OS FAQ from mega-tokyo.com

3. Read the moebius OS FAQ - I don't remember link so google it.

4. Download and read Intel docs (I think u want to develop an OS for intel processors)

5. Post regularly and get answers from this msgboard. There are many OS gurus out here (Chase, CarbonBased, Jamethiel, RobertLee and many others who will help you)

Hope this will help.

Hi
There are some beginner tutorials at http://www.osdever.net/ that were very usefull to me when I started os development.

There are some more tutorials on Chris Giese's Homepage:
