Question about which tools to use, bugs, the best way to implement a function, etc should go here. Don't forget to see if your question is answered in the wiki first! When in doubt post here.

Greetings and some thoughts...

Post by BoomSukka »

A genuine and heartfelt 'hello' to everyone here...

I think we're all victims of the same disease -- a relentless determination to create. The more we find out that seemingly (and overwhelmingly) broad, advanced and logic-embalmed concepts can be put into practice merely through effort, imagination and yes, moments of genius, the more addicted we are to discovering and manipulating the power of raw development.

In short, I'm happy to have found you all! My cheeks must be red and my stature wavering as I have found others as enthralled with OS development as I am.

This wasn't my first stop, naturally. I started with a few years of assembly programming, many years of C, C++, Java, Perl, PHP, and more than a few visits to my own lackluster attempts at getting my OS to that magical point where you're booted, in protected mode and have *no* OS as of yet :)

For me it's like a lover that I've left repeatedly but can't quite forget. Depending on the weather I can either be out at my local pub watching the hockey game or back at home delving into the current kernel architecture debates. When it comes to OS development, I haven't been a good lover, but that doesn't mean that the feeling has left me. Life makes demands much more immediate, pronounced and rational at times.

So, with much admiration towards all of your continued attention, strife and with envy for your dedication in congregating here, I just wanted to let everyone know that there *are* still those of us out there who cannot escape the lure of such a respectable hobby/career/passion. I can't wait to invariably ask the same silly questions asked ad nauseam, hit the same stumbling blocks and catch that hint of a snicker when you refrain politely from reminding me that I was 'not' the first to come across such-and-such a situation...

WHEN I finish something remarkable indeed, I'm certain it will be more true that 'we all' did it together.

Hello to all! I'd better dust off my cross-compiler environment and tell my love that I'm back ;)

Tim
