How can I boot from a DVD-RW in VirtualBox on OSX?

VirtualBox gives me this error message whenever I try to boot from my DVD-RW disc: "FATAL: Could not read from the boot medium! System halted.". And I don't understand why, 'cause I already burned my boot.bin file to the FULLY formatted DVD-RW disc, before I attempted the boot. It's just a test bootloader to print out "Hello, world!", and it works just fine if I just tell VirtualBox to boot from an *.iso consisting of this bootloader created with mkisofs. But as soon as I tell VirtualBox to boot from the host drive (MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-898) with the *.iso or just the *.bin file burned to it, it fails with the above error message.
But apparently VirtualBox considers my DVD-drive to be READ-ONLY. But if this is the case I just don't understand how OSX can burn the *.iso & *.bin file, and format the disc, without any problems.
I burned the *.bin (and in the first try the *.iso) by dragging them to DiscImageMounter in OSX, and clicking the "Burn" button.

Best regards,
Benjamin :).

Are you sure that in the burnt DVD there isn't the image file instead of the file of the bootloader and so on?

However, I recommend you to use Toast Titanium that works great. I use it to burn my os CD image and it works.

Yes, I'm positive that only the *.bin file resides on the DVD currently.
berkus, what commands?
EDIT: Would it work if I just got me some CD-RW discs instead?
