How good is UDI and what OS's currently support it?

How many drivers have actually been written in support of UDI?

Thanks.

As far as I know, there aren't any OSs that currently support it...!
At least not natively.

I believe o3one is in the process of adding support, however.
Hopefully there are more (anybody know?) 'cuz I would be interested in researching it, myself... I'm curious as to how well a standardized driver system would perform.  It seems like it would be more then slightly below average... however... the flexibility would be awesome! :)

And as for drivers written for it... I have no idea... the UDI download does include some sample drivers, however.

Cheers,
Jeff

Heh.
I've been reading the original core spec and its really hard work.
How they expect you to make a UDI environment out of what they have written.

The first 9 chapters are an overview of the system and all the different areas of it. And all 9 chapters contain big pargraphs of text with very little diagrams.

Its enough to keep your reading for the next couple of months.

I agree!

I looked into UDI a year or so ago, and wasn't overly impressed with the effort it would've required to make my OS UDI-compliant.

I find the idea quite intriguing, but I don't know if taking the time to develop an implementation is worth it in the end.

One of these days I'll look into it again, and possibly re-assess that, perhaps.  Who knows :)

Cheers,
Jeff
