Get and follow the specification for the chipset of your choice. ie get the doc for the rtl8319 chipset,NE2000 chipset etc

as long as i known there are no specs on either chipset... realtek wont give them away. you have to hack linux sources or something like that.

Hi kisas,
If you need some hardware doc's you can get them here:
http://www.cyberscriptorium.com/index.php

Just search for rtl

That is nonsense, certainly in the case of realtek, all of their datasheets are downloadable from the company website, couldn't be easier, full register descriptions are provided, so there is no need to hack anything

this link just appeared in alt.os.development

http://www.italios.it/oslib.php

looks like some Ethernet info in there -- if you can figure out the filenames

All Things don't start and end with Linux. And by the way, How did the Linux guy code theie drivers that "WE" are always told to hack? answer - they got hold of some documentation. And I have the pdf docs for realtek,Ne2000,3com and co all gotten from the internet for free. It depends on how much seaching you are prepared to do. Thanks
