i am in great need of a soulution for padding in my file system. i have about 80% of all of the os done, i just need help on padding on my cli. i have tried sub trackting from cx to get a count of how many spaces left to put in the buffer (the buffer is called buffer) but i had problems on just subtracting.
i need help on how to put that in. i tried having a function check the buffer, and then i tried having the user input untill '.' was hit and then add spaces and then tried getting the extension from the user but that all went wrong for me. could anyone help

p.s. i checked google, but probably not hard enough

Oh. My. God.

Use the search button. Hell, if you need to, search my posts or download the TBOS or MikeOS or DexOS source!

Look before posting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why exactly are you coding an OS?
Why exactly are you programming at all?

Try painting or singing or something.

i have your 0.5.1, mike os 3 and dexos 3 source so i am covered but eh, im fine. never mind i will just start a battle with people who are online to be critics. you have no right to judge. i am not dumb and i am farther than you think i am in this, i wont turn back be cause of people at a cite for people who talk about os development rather than help. get help here?! when i ask a question, it starts a scene, heck i even got judged on how i put together my sentences. no, i have a better solution. i got and downloaded what i want i wont ask the everyday smartmouth anymore, im done wasting my time. just got on and this happens, just a question bogdan, just a question. why exactly did you answer my question, even i knew your answer was wrong.

btw troy i just got ver 6 of your os, i knew you were going to fix that, thank you that download was better than the answer i was expecting =D> this has made my day

Now don't get wrong, my intent is not to make a scene, as you say, nor is it to start a flame on who should do what. It's just that OS development is regarded as being a complicated and very technical domain and is clearly not suited for everyone, at least not until they have the required skills. While I may not yet have the skills to code an entire OS (which is why I am still learning), I consider questions like "How do I add a few spaces in a string?" as question for someone who just found out about programming. You require a whole lot more knowledge just to code an extremely simple application, let alone an OS. At least, that's my $0.02.

EDIT: And btw, this isn't even an OSDev-related question, just because you encountered it while working on your OS.

Good for you. But you still asked the question.
never mind i will just start a battle with people who are online to be critics.
Wrong, we are here to help, but the are prerequisites. You can't just expect everything to be done for you, life isn't like that.
you have no right to judge
Wrong, we have every right to judge what we damn well please.
i am not dumb and i am farther than you think i am in this
Examples?
i wont turn back be cause of people at a cite for people who talk about os development rather than help. get help here?! when i ask a question, it starts a scene, heck i even got judged on how i put together my sentences.
You got judged on that because you were told to formulate you posts better and....well, fail. It starts a scene because of your question and your responses.
Uh...yeah, we talk about OSdev. Thats the point...And we do help, you're just incapable of receiving said help.
i got and downloaded what i want i wont ask the everyday smartmouth anymore, im done wasting my time. just got on and this happens, just a question bogdan, just a question. why exactly did you answer my question, even i knew your answer was wrong.
Good, you are copying code. If you copy code and say you are "far along" you are quite incorrect. If you must, look at the code and make your own implementation.

What the hell is you last sentence saying? ...cause it makes no sense...

I also agree with Booblover, you need much more knowledge if you can even make a successful stab at OSdev. I mean, come on. You can't honestly say that this is an easy thing to do.

I'd rather stop this now than let it boil-over into an all-out flame war. The OP has the answer, so lets move on.
