Finally got around to making a (partial) wiki homepage. I was a little weary at first due to the bottom of the page stating that it can be edited by all, but I later found out that that does not apply to personal pages. Anyways, just wanted to announce that.

You can edit other people's personal pages.

And since you challenged, I tried it with yours

... I guess I didn't try hard enough on that one lol.
That's kind of an unnecessary feature don't you think? editing of 'personal' wiki pages shouldn't be up to the public for editing.

Well, I wouldn't really consider it a "feature", just an "emergent property". Basically you can edit every page, and there's no specific wiki rule saying you can't with userpages. The reason that people should be able to, is to be able to fix any rule-breaking (read: spam, illegal dl's, copyrighted material).

That doesn't mean its morally correct to edit other people's userpages. In fact, I wouldn't normally edit any person's userpage unless the board rules or law require such moderation, and IMO that is a good standard for others to stick to.

...pointless comment above :P

I find it OK that you can edit others' pages. Who's really going to take the time to go vandal on it (other than Combuster :))?

lol, that's a good point, but it's not so much of a practical OSDev.org issue as it is just a general potential nuisance. I doubt anyone here would do such a childish act, but I'm sure if the wiki wasn't as respected elsewhere it would be a real issue.
