Dear Santa,
I would like for christmas a copy of Andrew Tanenbaum's new 3'rd Edition Operating Systems - Design and Implementation. I know it's due out on the 21st of December and I've been really really really really really good! (Only cut and pasted once this year ::) )

I wonder if they will include Minix 3 on CD like with the 2nd Edition?

The FAQ looks very interesting as does the cute and cuddly raccoon mascot. Be interesting to see the source (once downloaded) and the applications initially available (once the web site fixes it's links).

According to the website, Minix 3 will be on the CD with the book.
Boy am I glad I didn't buy the 2nd edition a month ago! Wouldn't I have been annoyed when I found out the 3rd edition is about to be released! ;D

I recommend getting all three editions. The code comparison is interesting as well as seing the evolution of an OS.
I've downloaded the image from the Minix website and will begin 'playing' with it.
