As site update was ready on May 31st... However until the web host allows FTP again, I can't update the site(FTP should be back up sometime Monday).

All downloads, the Tech News, and my blog are down as the downloads server is down for maintnence(more info about that at http://www.demented.org/?news).

I am working on an application to www.neopages.net

Hopefully it will be accepted and FTP and server problems will not stop updating of Bona Fide OS Development.

Update June 4, 2002:

* Added a several new tutorials in the Tutorials & Docs section
* Removed the Very Basic PMode tutorial as it doesn't really switch to PMode(thanks go to Tim Robinson for pointing this out)
* Added a few new links
* The downloads section will be back up as soon as I have the time to rebuild it's structure

Hey K.J.,

I like what you're doing with the web site. As a budding virgin in the field of OS development, I can attest to the lack of content freely available that covers OS concepts from the low-level developer's point of view.

I've been in the web design/development arena both as a hobbyist and a professional for a good while, now. If you'd appreciate a helping hand or someone with a hard shoulder to cry on when Netscape leaves its feces at your doorstep, holler. (please forgive the imagery)

Pete

I've been working on a tutorial on paging. Hopefully, it will be finished by the end of the week. :)

July 7, 2002

* Added a new Paging tutorial in the Docs and Tutorials section
* Added several new links
* The Bona Fide OS Development chatroom has moved to a new server(see the Chat page for server names)

Also.... we need a new server. Last month(June) the mirror of BFOSDev that's listed on Google had 115mb transfer(would have had more had I not deleted everything in time off of it). The current webhost only allows 100mb transfer per month, fortunitly, BFOSDev wasn't dropped from the server for going over. The other mirror(osdev.redir.net) had 93mb transfer. There is a possiblity that BFOSDev will be accepted at www.neopages.net , but the odds are very slim(they members there are into sites that are really fancy). So, if BFOSDev isn't accepted there, we will need a new host. Please email at [email protected] if you would like to host BFOSDev or donate space.

At last! Bona Fide OS Development is now moved to http://osdev.neopages.net ! I've added several downloads, and PDFs of all the tutorials will be availible soon. If you have linked to an old URL(osdev.mega.net.kg or osanswers.port5.com) please change it so that Google will index the new site ASAP.

I'm going on vacation for 1 or 2 weeks, so there will not be any updates durning that time. I will however have plenty of time to write a couple tutorials though. :)

I'm back from vacation now. Expect a site update in a few days. Also, I'm considering making a comment's/questions/descussion thing that will be at the end of each tutorial. Like the "User contributed notes" that are at the end of all the info on PHP commands:
http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.echo.php

Would this be a useful thing? Please let me know either by replying to this thread or emailing me at [email protected]

* Many of the tutorials are now converted to PDF format, you can find them here.
* Added two new tutorials.
* Added several new programs to the downloads section.
* Changed the link for the chat room stats on the chat room section.
* Added some new links.

Again, I need some feedback on the user notes idea. You just post what you think about it as a reply to this thread if you want, or you can email me @ [email protected]

K.J.,

What's up with the site? I keep getting "Forbidden" errors. Did I miss something?
