I was going to say "OS kernel", but didn't in fear of getting flamed by some exotic kernel architecture evangelist. ;-)

100% d'accord on most higher-level functions being portable, if your design is sound.

So the OSID site is dead? Are there plans to have it moved and development resumed, or are we just hoping someone else picks it up again?

Not "dead". If Bonafide say they don't want it then I'll redo it myself. But they have expressed interest in it and I've given them the code so they can integrate into their site. The idea was that it would be integrated into the Betacenter. If when this is finished the OSID isn't in it I will redo it myself.
