Still... it seems like science fiction... but then so does starting a colony on Mars, yet if we had wanted to 10 or 20 years ago, we could've, we had the technology to do it then, and we have it now(though improved).

We had (and have) the technology, but not the motivation. The Americans only went to the moon in order to beat the Soviets: what other point is there in putting a couple of guys in spacesuits on a lump of rock?

The whole point is to find out if there are other life forms on the moon, and of course to beet the soviets, loL!

Alot of things can be done with computers, but people just aren't interested enough in taking technology one step further, But i plan to change that

uhmm...maybe a bit late, but:
a)this brain technoligy thing is still at an early stage
b)USA(or somebody else) couldn't just fly to the moon right now(because they don't have the rockets anymore)
c) they never thougt there were living objects on the moon

I'd rather see the brain as an output device... how freaky would that be to receive input from the computer and visualize it ;p

Actually...by then i'd be Windows Longhorn...and the new windows work great for me...better than linux...

Although not about IBVA, this is relevant to using a brain to os (kind of ).

I read an article about a robot which was controlled by neurons taken from a rat brain. A computer sent the messages from the neurons off to the robot, and the robot sent messages via the computer back to the neurons. The results were a frantic little robot, but the neurons started to change. So the neurons were adapting to the feedback.

such interface would be really hard to implement, there must be a big neural net to learn brain reactions, but it's not a problem. The real problem is to teach human brain to concentrate and make things accurate. It's really much harder than teach kids to talk. There is an Human Brain Institute in Moscow, so they can teach kid for 2 different reactions to interact with computer. Adults can't concentrate enough at all, so we'll need to teach people first.

This may not be such a crazy idea... But how would they persuade people to try it?
