Here's the PM

Read the PM sent:

It depends on what OS you are using. If it is WindowsXP then open start menu and click on 'Run' then type 'cmd'.This will open the command shell. Then cd to the directory where the CVS is installed and then type that command. If you are using UNIX/Linux like OS then you have to know waht 'konsole' is.Open a konsole and type the command.

If you are a Windows user my suggestion is to switch to LINUX/UNIX like OS because those are better suited for development. There are a lot of free tools which are very valuable for OS developing, besides those tools are installed by default.

By the way why do you want syllable so much?It is quite complicated for a beginner. There a lot more easier OS which are meant for education and are much better documented. This may help you to start.

What kind of negative attitude is that? You just received all of your knowledge as a token of goodwill from your higher being? You have had to find out what's what at some time as well, don't blame him for not knowing.

I strongly reccommend that when/if you start your own OS project, use SVN rather than CVS. Personally, I can't stand CVS, especially that on sourceforge. You have to download like 3 different applications because of all their encryption and to make your own encryption code...(really why one project never took off, I couldn't figure out how to start it!) just a messed up deal...

Does this syllabus thing have any releases out? all releases should include source, so a tad bit outdated source should make too much of a difference, not like your going to add on to it..
