Down Time - ATTN: Chase

Post by TripleFault »

Hi Chase,
I was just wondering why OSDEV.ORG was down for so long around 7PM-9PM PT.  When it finally started working again I couldn't find any changes.  Oh yeah, when are you going to surprise us with some new stuff? :)  Great site.  Keep up the good work!

Probaby becuase what ever platform your running on didn't fail back to my secondary dns. We had some crazy out of no where storms here in Houston all yesterday. Lightning hit the power lines where my primary dns and email runs from. Power was out from noon to midnight and it looks like it's off again right now :( The web server is out of Flordia along with the secondard dns.

The new stuff is coming along pretty good, it's a couple thousand lines of Java code at this point(Xdoclet is cool btw). I was hoping to get it up by the end of the month but I had my development machine die so it's going to be delayed a little. I might end up taking some vaction time just to finish it off.

Just talked with building management and my power should be back around 4 pm CST. If you wanted to you can add www.osdev.org to you OS's host file with an ip address of 204.215.248.28. Hopefully things will start working soon and I can stop staying at work just because they have power :)
