OS dev on the Genesi Pegasos, anyone?

Hi!

A few weeks ago I've purchased a cheap genesi pegasos-based machine. I thought I could use this as a development/test machine for a PPC port of my (not yet existing) OS.

I'm just curious whether there are people out there working on similar project, or just doing osdev for PPC.

Here are the specs:
Genesi/bplan Pegasos I mainboard
IBM 750 CXe (G3) Processor, somewhere around 600Mhz
onboard ethernet (100Mbit, realtek 8201)
onboard USB (UHCI, I guess)
onboard IEEE 1394
onboard IDE-Controller
other standard hardware (PS/2, RS232, parallel port, AC97 sound codec, gameport, FDC)
ATI radeon 7000

No, I haven't yet done aught for machines like this. But it'd be nice to watch you doing Coding for a load-store-risc-architecture. *gg*

Where did you get your Pegasos machine? I'm very intersted in playing around with one as well... however, the Genesi website claims that they're discontinued.

I really like the idea of developing an OS for a specific machine with a fixed set of hardware that is both reasonably powerful AND has open specs.

I bought it second hand, it was announced on a german pegasos community forum. I guess there still should be offers on ebay or so, from time to time.

Production of new units is discontinued, unfortunately. A more modern successor is planned however, called "Pegasos 8641D", still based on the same firmware interface AFAIK. I'm quite sure I'll get one of these as soon as they hit the market!

Yeah, it's too bad. They also have a new micro-motherboard product called the EFIKA which looks pretty interesting too.
I'm going to go hunt around on eBay...
