1. How many sectors are there in one track?
2. How many tracks are there in one side of a floppy disk?
Thanks a lot!
I have a question about floppy disks

RE:I have a question about floppy disks
1) 18 sectors per track
2) 80 tracks per head (side).
Total of 2880 sectors.

RE:I have a question about floppy disks
yeah, it depends on what kinda floppy you pick
most of then (the small ones) have 18 sector/track and 80 track/both side (2880 sectors of 512 byte each)
but large ones come in capacity of 320/360/720/1200(?) Kbytes, but you cant buy them anymore...

RE:I have a question about floppy disks
18 sectors per track? Umm... No.
80 tracks? Umm... No.
2880 sectors? Umm... No.
Next you'll be saying that sectors are all 512 bytes long as well (finding a counterexample falls firmly in the Not Hard category).
The actual values depend on the type of disk and it's format. And the format will depend on OS, hardware, software, and disk type. And for some formats, the number of sectors per track will depend on which track it is.
Now, for a double-sided, high-density, MFM-format disk in the most popular format for such a disk, your figures are correct. On the other paw, I've seen 1600 K disk formats using stock PC hardware on such a disk.

RE:I have a question about floppy disks
Yes, i know there are different disks, but the only ones i have come across are the 1.44 MB disks. Can you even buy the others (who would?, oh yes, you, just to be anoying).
I think for the purposes of his/her os, they want the values i gave.
