Ok i was going through the apple site and found the G5 processor now most people wont really care but its a 64bit processor that means that ibm will release one soon too putting all our code in the garbage can(I think or it will be out dated)

Not at all. If you look at the 64-bit cpus coming out from AMD they will be backwards compatible with current IA32 architecture. Besides, what IBM does hasen't had any really impact on PC cpus for a long time.

Most large OS projects use C mixed with asm so most projects will have very little to rewrite unless they are using their own compilers.
