Just a quick note - I've created an initial web page for SFS containing links to the specification and some SFS forums (one for discussing the specification itself, and another for implementation issues). This is currently on my normal web host, which is much faster and more reliable than my development machine.
Currently the web page itself is fairly basic, but will hopefully grow (links to source code and other material). I also wouldn't mind seeing it with it's own domain name too ("www.sfs.org" or something), but it's probably a little early for that....

I'm wondering how could the SFS thread in this forum be ported to the new one... Is it even possible? (without Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V) How could it be splitted then? (it contains both spec changes proposals and implementation-related questions)

It would be technically possible, but time consuming in practice - getting each authors permission and then cut & pasting previous posts into either "specification" or "implementation" as a historical entry.
I'd also prefer (at least for the "specification" forum), that each proposed change was given it's own topic - for e.g. one topic called "Proposed addition of hard/soft links", another called "Suggested changes to the paragraph about foo", etc.
An alternative idea would be to have a "sticky" post at the beginning that contains links to the relevant topics here. That would be easier (as some of the posts here contain a mixture of different subjects) and more "historically" correct.

You should get a domain for it though. sfs.org is taken, but you could get simplefs.org. They're pretty cheap too.
Hehe - "bland" is an understatement...
Unfortunately, with everything else I'm doing at the moment (real life, "diskless headless" changes to my project, changes to Bochs, etc) I haven't spent as much time on SFS as I'd like.
It's likely I'll wait until there's example source code for SFS, and then make the web site "pretty" before doing some promotional work (alt.os.development, osnews.com, slashdot.org, etc)....

I can't believe my post has been the first at the SFS forum... I thought it would be thriving by now (sigh). Well, just to raise the visit count, my post contains the URL of the first Linux SFS """driver""".
I'm glad to of had the chance to test out Habbit's implementation of SimpleFS, I'm an OpenBSD guy myself but his mksimplefs tool surely has a future in BSD-Like systems.. It's Just needs some work/research and a lot of patience to support a much wider range of systems.
I fully support this project, A true "Standard" and patent-free File System for simply "exchanging" data between OS's is worth fighting for.
