Can I give the easy answer of "Linux"? :P Other than that I dunno, sorry.

Edit:
Of course, there's the FAQ, that's your first stop people.

Your question has a bit of a double explanation

If you mean "read images" as in "what is the logical contents of this .img file", then as said before, read the FAQ

If you mean "read images" as in "i want to read and make a .img from this floppy", then the faq is a bit short on info - in that case i suggest googling for dd (linux/cygwin) or rawwritewin (windows)

I use dd, both the Linux version and the Windows port. That works fine for me for reading and writing block devices every which way.

...if that's what you meant. :P

James, if you pay attention to my last post, you'll notice that the FAQ page points you towards both Disk Images under Windows which has plenty of link-to-tools that you can use to manipulate disk images under Windows XP, and a similar pages that explains how to work with "virtual floppies" (a.k.a. loop devices) under Linux ...

And, btw, i start thinking you should read "how to ask questions the smart way" a bit more ... Having someone around that just says "linux comp. has no floppy" or "nasm is not working" is just clueless for us and gives the feeling that you're getting nervous because you're not answered quick enough.

@james: tell your friend to open an account on his own. It doesn't cost anything so even if he is a tightwad that wouldn't constate an obstacle for him to register.

Two ppl posting with one account (which costs zilch) is ridiculous and leads to more misunderstanding than neccessary.
