I'd never add a deep link myself to places like OSRC that have already gone to so much trouble to collect and organize tutorials and information. Things like datasheets hosted by semiconductor companies could in my option be directly linked to.

Guess I'll just have to monitor what links get added and make a judgement call. Fun!-)

Okay, I agree THAT would be impolite. I didn't think by "deep linking" you meant linking to every individual document in existence. Besides being impolite, that would be a pain in the butt to do. With the IA32 specs I was thinking just link to the page containing links to all the docs, not linking to every one of the documents individually. As for the sites that covered a lot of topics, like OSRC, or especially a site that had a lot of docs about one topic, I didn't mean that you should link to every document they contained. One link would be sufficient. I meant if it's a site with lots of varying information then it could go into just a general list, and the sites that have a lot of docs about one topic could have just one link in the specific category.

Hey Chase,

Are you going to convert OSDEV.org 1 feature at a time or are you just going to throw it at us all at once?  (I would probably prefer the "All at Once" method just for the surprise factor.)

Chase - Thanks for the great site!!!

But a real forum (i.e. BB Board, kind of what mega-tokyo forum has) system would be really cool. Then we could easily organise threads under appropriate subjects (say bootstraping... or C++ or Preemptive multitasking... or x86 stuff :) )

Thanks again.

What a discussion for something so simple.

Add both links, the deep link to the tutorials or whatever themselves, and a link to the main page of the site to be nice about it. It's good for the visitor anyway.
Easy.

Trying for the all at once route but it may turn into alot at once with little bits here and there....

But why?

There are probably a million different tutorials out there. What's the point of linking to each one individually when somebody has already done that (even if it weren't impolite)?
