How Fine is the FAQ

I think the FAQ is too hard to find.

It's not obvious where it is. People can read the sticky threads or search but I think a nice, big "Click here to get the FAQ" button or an obvious link that's on every page would increase awareness of it and I think you'd get a lot more traffic to it.

Yep, second that. The FAQ is very easy to find if you start at mega-tokyo.com (as it's explicitly linked there), but if your link led you directly to the forum, there is no obvious way to find the FAQ. The banner link is useful but non-intuitive.

The problem is that this forum is not all about OS-DEV, so we probably can't have a big "click here for OS FAQ" banner up there... can we?

i once suggested
a new logo -- that people might want to click more, but it would kill the bandwidth . I'll add the reference to the FAQ in my signature and hope it will make more people check it.

This doesn't invite people to click on it either. Best to add something like "OSFAQ HERE", so they know where to put the mouse pointer to.

Pity is I don't know an elegant way either - at the moment - so this doesn't disturb the overall look and feel of the website.

EDIT: have added a link to it in my sig too.

Is HTML/links allowed inside the forum description "Writing your own Operating System? Have questions about OS design? This is your forum"?
Maybe you can add a link there.

I agree, it's for new people too hard to find the OS FAQ. A link would be good (as Bubach suggested).

Anyway, I didn't know what to choose.. I check it from time to time, and add (sometimes) hopefully helpful stuff to it

Actually, http://www.osdev.org/osfaq2 works just as well but if you want to be pedantic then you can use http://www.osdev.org/osfaq2/index.php/HomePage
