BIOS driver numbers

Post by Googles »

Does all BIOS assign driver number 80h to IDE channel 0, master and 81h to IDE channel 0, slave... 82h IDE channel 1, slave and so on...
Does anybody knows of a standard that defines BIOS drive numbers? for example if I boot from a network or a cdrom...

don't know for sure, but i'd expect the CDROM-boot to appear as a floppy number, since cdroms are usually presented as a (virtual) 2.88MB floppy to the boot process
