Best OS for...

I'm looking for the best Linux-OS for a server. We tried Knoppix, but it needs 100Mb more than our HD has. What we're looking for, is an OS that takes as less space as possible, is Debian-based (bro can work with that), although console-based shouldn't be a problem either (or is that the same? :-X ) and should work pretty fast.

i would suggest the "zipslack", which only take 100..250MB and is available in the slackware distro.
