The price is far too low. I'd say it's taken me one man-year to get where I am with Mobius, and I don't think it fulfils what this guy wants. At $10,000 per year (what's that? ?5000? and that's before tax) I'd just about feed myself and pay for somewhere to live.

The guy probably wants something similar to windows, seeing the simplicity with which they give the request.

Seeing the price, that's WAY under par. For a one-man job similar to some incomplete system, you'd need at least 50000-100000, but for something like windows, try millions or possibly billions.

Your forgetting that many of the programmers on RentaCoder aren't thinking in dollars or pounds, but in rupees, reais, lei, or riyals. In many countries, $10,000US would have a buying power to several times what it would in the US; you could fund a whole staff for a year on that.

For that matter, there are US programmers who are desperate enough to bid on it as a solo project. I did; and while I don't expect to get the contract, I felt it was worth trying.

I agree that the expectations are way out of line with reality; but if you look at the rest of the site, you'll find that this is typical of most projects listed. What is really happening is that the price of coding is being forced down, and programmers are going to have to be will to bid down or lose out.
