I didn't find a TabOS binary or disk image, so I tried compiling it from source under Linux 2.4.19 with GCC 3.2.2

There are some bugs in kernel/bfmt/elf_app.c which I tried to fix.

I don't have MTOOLS, so "make install" did not work. I don't think you need mtools. mformat=mkdosfs, mmd=mkdir, mcopy=cp, plus FAT filesystem support in the kernel, plus the loopback device to use a file as a simulated floppy disk. Linux alone can now do whatever you need.

Where is $(MOUNT_POINT) defined in the Makefiles?

When I booted TabOS, it said
Initializing the internal VGA driver...cannot register

Then the hard drive light went on and stayed on (scary!), and the system froze up.

Does it need VESA 2.0? How much RAM does it need? Does it run under Bochs?

ok, what kind of image do you want? the old stable 0.2.4a, or a new developer image? do you want it for harddisc or floppy disc?
