How do I determine the RAM available in a computer?
I read that the CMOS can return Extended Memory size only below 64Mb. and from one of your discussions here I've understood that "direct probing" isn't good.
So then how do i determine the RAM size? I want it to be independent of the Chipset etc.(i.e) it shoul work on any system.
I read the FAQ regarding "direct probing" but since it's in GAS syntax I can't understand it. Could anyone explain it? and err... is this method available only after paging is enabled?
Any help is greatly appreciated. thanx in advance.

OK, a few tips on searching. The three most important things I recommend are

[*] In a general search, always leave the user name field empty, and set the user type field to 'all users';

[*] have only the forums you want to look through checked (i.e., 'OS Development', 'General Programming', etc.), so that it won't bring up threads that aren't relevent to the search;

[*] Reset the 'number of days to search' field and the 'number of postings to display' fields to something arbitrarily large (i.e, 10000), to insure that you get all of the relevent threads.

The last one is the most important, as the default is only 7 days and 25 postings, which are both far too small for a general search.

As for creating hyperlinks: Mega-Tokyo uses the 'Yet Another Bulletin Board' forum software, and accepts a variant of BBCode. To add a BBcode link, use

[[url=http://<hyperlink> ]]<text>[[/url]]

(BTW, to override the square brackets so that you can write out BBCode for display like that, you hjave to double them:

[[[[ ... ]]]]

HTH.
