With so many different people here all trying to
develope their own operating systems... I wonder
why everyone just doesn't work together to build
a single OS. Everyone could contribute code for
all the different parts, and the best pieces could
be pieced together into something that may actually
be usefull.

creating an os with "everyone" from these forums
is like creating a new linux....
also, most people just want to experiment with
the possibilities of creating an os. let them try
and find out that WINDOWS isn't that bad after
all... especially the 'put cd in drive and install
without trouble' part

Indeed. And there's so many ideas floating around
here that are mutually exclusive that it'd be
impossible to satisfy everyone.

Out of curiosity, though... how many groups are
developers are there here vs. individual developers
only?

Not to start a flame war here, but, it's obviously
not the pinacle of perfection either

I agree though... a lot of people do seem to think
they can rewrite windows in a heart beat. Despite
it's short commings, it's an extremely intricate
piece of software, spanning decades of development
(and, more noteably, more than one developer!
