using CMOS data

Post by slacker »

i understand the CMOS holds data about the PC...like time, devices,etc...

does CMOS only fill its registers with this data when the option 'NON PLUG N PLAY OS' is enabled in BIOS? does the data in CMOS exist no matter what options are checked in BIOS?

The data are there regardless of whether the BIOS thinks you have a Plug and Play OS installed. The CMOS settings are used by a lot of the basic startup code. Try running DOS with the Plug and Play OS BIOS setting enabled.
