Dma power up init

Hi, is there anybody who have any idea on how to initialize 8237 DMA controller on power up?
NOTE: I am not asking how to init. 8237 on serving any irq, just initializing on power up. Thanx...

BTW i looked at intel docs, it says that a valid value must be loaded into mode resigters but these valid values are not clear for me... Sorry for filling up space. ;D
