PIT info

Does anybody have some good info on the PIT?

I've seen some (very little) code that seems to
program it, but - no doubt being written by amateurs
like myself - I don't totally trust it just yet.

I'm looking for any docs or quick references...
if anybody knows of any, I'd be quite thankful
