Hi
I'm just starting to use Bochs (because of it's debugger) but I am having a few problems. First of all, how go I make a floppy disk into an image file? WinImage created files that didn't work.
Also why does Bochs most of the time just quit when I try to start the simulation, I have that config file.
Thanks
Trying to use Bochs
Re:Trying to use Bochs
Ok....first of all...if using Linux...migrate to a ext3 FS.
Then when ever you want to test your OS, simple "reboot -f"
If in Win32...get linux..
If Can't get linux....get VMWare(bochs you can't trust to make a good OS ( my opinion ) )
If can't get VMWare...oh poor person.....you'll need to speed up your windows boot up and shut down.
If you NEED to make a floppy image... RaWrite it! you can make images with that program and they work with my computer ( didn't test bochs ).

Re:Trying to use Bochs
To make floppy images in winimage, save the images as Image File(*.ima). The default is a compressed image file which Bochs can't read.

Depends on the Bochs version. 1.4.1 has several bugs(especially in the debugger). The latest Bochs code outa the CVS tree is TERRIFIC! Tons of bugs have been fixed, tweaks have been done to make hardware models more complete, with all the optimizations enabled you get twice the speed, and there is a quite a few new hardward devices added, and a more complete BIOS. Release 2.0 which will be the next official release will be happening probably near the middle of this month.get VMWare(bochs you can't trust to make a good OS ( my opinion ) )
