;D I'm not selling my OS - I can't. I can't because it's GNU, i'd sell my OS but I can't by the super-de-duper compilers.

My OS ( i didn't all make it my self ), is free, and you can use the source code.

correction,
I was writing an os.
But I stopped the project due to the lack of documentation on harddisk ports.

My os source is now downloadable from:
http://www.anemaet.nl/nitix/

If someone has documentation about reading using ports then I'd like to hear it =) (or if someone has and would like to help)

Best,
Frank

I'm suprised you gave up merely because you couldn't find any information on the ATA interface. Try www.ata-atapi.com, or download almost any amateur OS and study the hard disk driver source.

I knew that site already -- used it too,
my harddisk driver works half,
It can read sectors on cylinder 0 but not on other cylinders...

Hey,

Tom, it doesn't matter if your os is open source, you can take it off open source, but the current code you have written will have to remain open source, sourceforge has the right to distibute it (Freely that is), you can always take it off open source, after all, it is your os ;) But the current code remains under the Open Source license that you selected ;D

Ciao ;D

theres a difference from writing an OS, and writing one that works. its really not all that amazing, it jsut takes a lot of time and learnign to get it to work.

I think that is actually easier than Windows programming...

I want FritzOS open source, because it's suppose to help me learn, and if it helps others learn...that's good too.
