How do you select video memory banks in PROTECTED MODE? I've seen some ways to do it in real mode using interrupts, but I would like to know how to set video banks in protected mode (without interrupts)

You might try reading "vbe3.pdf" to get some ideas on what's possible using SVGA. Also, there is plenty of grief to be experienced, so a search through alt.os.development is probably not a bad idea.
