What exactly is this? What do us OS programmers need to do with it? It stands for Linear Block Address, right? What is the significance of this? Thanks!

Maybe i can help you
There are two significations for LBA

1 - Logical Block Adressing
An EIDE technique
Used by BIOS for int 13h, to access hard disk larger than 1024 cylinder

Dot not confuse with
2 - Large Block Adressing
Its now an old CHS (Cylinder Head Sector) conversion method, used to convert a physical CHS to a logical CHS adress
