All off topic discussions go here. Everything from the funny thing your cat did to your favorite tv shows. Non-programming computer questions are ok too.

Must be... see if you can figure out how many of them are actually active on this board though. ;)

Wrong... I am guessing about 30-50 of those members are actually active and visit this board. Might be more... might be less.

I always thought the board nuked inactive members after 30 days.. or not.. I'll have to check... mm and I still need to upgrade my yabbse..

aaaand 10 minutes later, I just updated to yabbse1.4.1
hope all is well

I've set the border between active and non-active at no posts at all. I could consider a member active when he has last posted something 1 month ago, but, like df, someone else can consider them inactive if they haven't posted anything within 30 days. To avoid discussion on that, I counted everyone that is/has been active.

Nope it doesn't do it automatically, but it does give you the option to nuke them on command.

Looks like all went well. :) Trust me 1.4.1 is great... and it is the last version until 2.0 which will be a total rewrite from scratch.

Just out of curiousity:
When you nuke a member, you nuke all of their messages, right? And wouldn't that cause quite a bit of confusion on the board? I mean, it would look like people are responding to messages that don't exist - you'd think the other members are hearing voices or something.

Nope, it does not nuke their messages when you nuke members. Their messages stay.

What would you change their "member" status to? "nuked"?

It would be cool if this board had rankings! 8)

::)

Actually it deletes that member permanently. That is our meaning of "nuked".

The board does have rankings... but this board doesn't have rankings. ;)

df modified the settings so all the rankins are called "member".

I know what nuked means ;), but df said that their messages were kept.

I asked about the rankings thing because every single other yabb board I've seen has them.

(I've been buried under a rock for the past few years, and was pleasantly surprised by this spiffy new -almost- standard for message boards)

Nope I said that.

Well this board is great, but there is many flaws with it's queries(too many of them) which makes the board slower than necessary.

Some people around here answer question like this:
"I don't know."

Is that being active?

I read allmost everything on this board, but I don't reply when I have nothing useful to say. I don't care if people do, but the graphs can't tell you how many people are 'active'...
