PHP/MySQL help

Post by AGI1122 »

I have been trying to set up YaBBse which is the php version of YaBB. The only problem is that it can't seem to create the database nomatter what it is called, the default database name is "yabbse". Does anybody have any experience with PHP or MySQL and can help me out with setting up the board?

On another note, I have been able to get a xmb board to work though! It is at http://www.agigames.com/forum/

I don't care for xmb boards much so I would be really gratefull if someone could help me figure out how to set up YaBBse.

yabbse? not heard of it, all i got was the yabbsp1.zip or whatever, upped it, changed a few file permissions, created the db (try using phpMyAdmin). changed the yabb config file.

worked...

i have a local copy on my win2k machine with yabbsp1 + mysql so I can test it all out before I upload it.

YaBBse is the official port of YaBB to php format. The web site is at http://www.yabb.info

The problem I have is that I get some sort of error stating that it can't create a database.

I know I have all the requirements for setting it up, but I still can't seem to get it to install.

They just released the 3rd version a few days ago, I tried that one out but I still get the same error.

The php version is much faster than the cgi/perl version since it uses databases instead of flatfiles. Also it uses less bandwidth and I am sure we all can benefit from less bandwidth usage. Now if only I could get it to install onto my new server. :'(

Oh and by the way I tried phpMyAdmin to create them. It didn't work, and I still got the same error message that it couldn't create them.
