Re: Installation error...
OK look i got linux and installed it and now i need to know how to install tar.gz files please help me i have no idea what im doing so the simplest explanition possible is the best. Thank you very much.
Re: Installation error...
A .tar.gz. is not really an install thing, it is an archive like a .zip file. So use
tar xzf <tar.gz.fileHere>
and it will unpack the files.
tar xzf <tar.gz.fileHere>
and it will unpack the files.

Re: Installation error...
Just wondering, why are you installing Linux, like if you are a Windows user you CAN develop an OS on Windows. I am not saying Linux is not better, but it seams like you don't know much about it, and if you are new to OS dev to, that might slow you down pritty hard.

Re: Installation error...
you type it in a terminal window that is openned into the directory that you downloaded that file into.
Really, just use Windows.

Re: Installation error...
Most install's now-a-days are quick and easy. Boot the CDRom and go. Even my very first linux install several years (0.9x) ago had a front-end to unzip tar.gz files...
