Sparc's are fairly easy to come across in the USA. I have at least 4 fully working system and a couple more for parts for free. Craigslist is your friend! if you can't get it free then fairly cheap is also likely.

I'm still waiting to get a sparcbook 3TX and an AG10E graphics card for my SS10 :)

I also have original solaris 2.6 and 7 on hand. with isos of 8 and 9

That said I tend to run BSD on these old boxes as it has newer software and still runs decently. OpenBSD on the Uniprocessor models and NetBSD for SMP. I'd like to get a recent Linux working but I haven't had time.

I added a TKisem page to the wiki just now it looks good for learning about sparc assembly in kernel mode.
