4k Sector Advanced format

it seems that 4k sector advanced format by WestDigital will be popular soon.
and obviously, software/filesystem support is needed, as we can see that winxp runs slowly on it.
is there any differences when we create a partition except alignment?
and what should we do or notice to make full use of it when we operate on it?

I don't quite understand MTD though i've searched for it. would you please explain it by the way?
