Compiling GCC

Hey, I'm following this tutorial http://wiki.osdev.org/GCC_Cross-Compiler and so far, so good except that I've ran into a strange problem. I googled the problem and most of the links pointed here and most of them where people pointing to the wrong directory except I checked mine and it's correct. Binutils are compiled.

GCC Ver = 4.1.2
Binutils Ver = 2.19.1

So this is my error:

As you can see, make gcc-all can't find i586-elf-ar, but it's right there, and my PATH points to the correct directory. So I have no idea what's going on here.

Anyone know what's up with this? Any help is greatly appreciated.

can you run i586-elf-ar directly? does it have the executable bit set?

Yes, I thought about that after I posted.
I can directly run i586-elf-ar from the bash prompt and the +x flag is set for i586-elf-ar.

Edit: Fixed it, turns out Makefile didn't have +x.

Since when do Makefiles need +x set?
