Post by ssameerahmed »

Hello Everyone,

I am a newbiee to the world of operating system development.I have an dream of developing an OS for my laptop which I can use as I like.

I want it to structure and architect on Linux.

Please let me know what are the basic requirement for the OS development like

1) tools needed or Available
2) books on Assembly language as I have Core 2 duo processor
3) Available tools in Linux which can be used
4) Free Downloads that can used for OS development

I understand the concept of OS and ve worked on a bit of Linux internals.

Please let me know the links and fresh book available in the market.

Thanks

Sounds like what you want is LFS (Linux from Scratch). Writing your own OS isn't going to be usable anytime soon.

Also, see the wiki.

Try the wiki, or the thread called "Book Recommendations"...
