writing virtualization software ?

my lecturer is telling me that writing an virtualization software will be easy if we know to write an OS ?
how far is this true ?

I'd assume writing virtualization software will be easier if you're already familiar with the hardware's low-level details (and writing an OS is one way to become familiar with the hardware's low-level details).

However, "easier" is not the same as "easy" - if something is extremely difficult and you make it easier, then it might still be very difficult.... ;)
