Protected mode disk I/O

I tried searching for protected mode disk access, but it kicked out the words protected mode and disk, and just returned the 5000+ pages that have access, so Ill ask here. Can someone point me to info on performing low level disk I/O after you are in protected mode, preferably without doing to V86 kludge.
